Operating Room-Origined Pressure Injury-A Preventable Risk in the Perioperative Period: Classic Review

Year 2023, Volume: 7 Issue: 1, 25 - 31, 28.09.2023

Abstract

Despite the improvement in surgical techniques and care, pressure injuries are an important health problem. Pressure injury is defined as localized wounds in soft tissues associated with medical or other devices. Pressure injuries originating from the operating room are observed within 48-72 hours following the surgical operation. If not prevented, pressure injury, which causes severe pain, social isolation, and secondary surgical intervention needs, prolongs the hospital stay and increases the cost of care. While there are evidence-based studies in the literature on pressure injury and its prevention, information on operating room-induced pressure injury is limited. In this review, it is aimed to synthesize the information in the literature about operating room-related pressure injuries and to guide the professional healthcare team. In order to increase the quality of health care and to ensure cost-effectiveness, it is very important for the professional team to have knowledge about the subject in order to determine the risk factors that cause pressure injury from the operating room in patients who will undergo surgery, and to prevent the development of pressure injury.

Ameliyathane Kaynaklı Basınç Yaralanması-Perioperatif Dönemde Önlenebilir Bir Risk:-Klasik Derleme

Year 2023, Volume: 7 Issue: 1, 25 - 31, 28.09.2023
