HEMŞİRELİK ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN MESLEĞİ TERCİH ETME DURUMLARI İLE MESLEKİ KARİYER PLANLARI ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİSİNİN BELİRLENMESİ
Abstract
Amaç: Bu çalışma, öğrenci hemşirelerin mesleği tercih etme durumları ile mesleki kariyer planları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı tipteki araştırmanın örneklemini 207 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Verilerin toplanmasında sosyo-demografik özelliklerin yer aldığı öğrenci tanıtım formu ve “Hemşirelik Meslek Seçimi Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde yüzdelik, ortalama, standart sapma, Mann-Whitney-U ve Kruskal Wallis testleri kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Mezuniyetten sonra öğrencilerin %86.0’ı meslekte kalmayı, %76.8’i lisans üstü eğitim almayı istemektedir. Öğrencilerin %42.0’si akademisyen, %20.8’i ise klinisyen olarak çalışmayı düşündüğünü belirtmiştir. Öğrencilerin %49.8’i “çok az” düzeyde, %2.4’ü “iyi” derecede İngilizce bildiğini ifade etmiştir. Öğrencileirn %51.2’si İngilizce bilmemeyi kariyer yapmaya engel olarak görmektedir. Lisansüstü eğitim almayı isteme durumu ile Mesleki Uygunluk Alt Ölçeği puan ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı fark olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Öğrencilerin hemşirelik mesleğinde kalmayı istemeleri ile alt ölçek puan ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmuştur (p<0.05).
Sonuç: Lisansüstü eğitim almayı ve meslekte kalmayı isteyen öğrencilerin hemşirelik mesleğini isteyerek seçtikleri düşünülmektedir. Mesleği isteyerek seçme, hemşirelerin kendilerini ve mesleği geliştirmelerinde etkilidir. Yaşamsal nedenlerden ve mecburiyetten tercih eden öğrencilerin mesleğe uyumunun sağlan-masında öğretim görevlileri ve klinik hemşirelerinin farkındalıklarının, İngilizce eğitiminin nitelik ve niceliğinin arttırılması önerilmektedir.

Determination of the Relationship between the Nursing Students’ Status Choice of Profession and the Professional Career Plans
Abstract
Aim: This study was carried out to determination of relationship of nursing students’ status choice of profession with their professional career plans.
Methods: The study is descriptive; the sample consisted of 207 students. Data were collected through the use of The Turkish version of HMSÖ, and student introduction form was prepared by the researchers. The data were evaluated by using percentage, mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests.
Results: After graduation 86.0% wanted to remain in profession, while 76.8% wanted to receive postgraduate education. 49.8% of students known foreign languages very minimal, while 2.4% of students known at a good level of English. 42.0% of students wanted to become academics, while 20.8% wanted to be a clinical nurse. Moreover, 51.2% saw to make a career as obstacles not knowing English. There was no significant difference between mean scores of vital reasons subscale and want to get graduate education, but was determined significant difference mean scores of professional suitability subscale scores (p<0.05). There was determined a statistically significant difference between want to go on in the nursing profession and subscale scores of HMSÖ (p<0.05).
Conclusion: It is considered students, who want to remain in the profession and get postgraduate education, have chosen to nurse intentional. Willingly choose the profession; nurses are effective in themselves and professional development. Furthermore, it is recommended lecturers and clinical nurses' awareness and the quantity and quality of education in English are increased for ensuring compliance to professions with students who have to choose to profession because of survival/need reasons.
