Palliative Care In Patient With End Stage Renal Disease
Abstract
ESRD are living longer than in the past because of the developing in medicine and technology. With the lengthening of life expectancy, acute states that occur during the course of the chronic renal diseases and threaten the life, or co-morbid diseases progressing together with the current disease, physical and psychosocial symptoms are impairing the general well-being and the quality of life and complicating the patient care increased the need for palliative care. Palliative care is defined as “an approach in which administrations related to the prevention and relief of suffering are involved through meeting the requirements of physical, psychosocial and spiritual care by means of early diagnosis and well evaluation of the problems emerging from the life-threatening disease.” An effective palliative care focuses on the patient and family and requires. Symptom assessment and management, care planning, health needs of family and theirs caregivers with ESRD is expected in a comprehensive manner by the nephrology nurses The concepts of palliative care in ESRD focusing on pain and symptom management advance care planning, ethics issues with dialysis and psychosocial and spiritual support concepts. In this article, the definition and concepts of the palliative care and related to interventions are discussed.
