Objective: This study was conducted to determine the nurses' burnout levels.
Materials and Methods: The research was a descriptive study. The study population was 284 nurses (79.5%) who working in a hospital in Bursa. Two forms were used to collect the data. The first part includes questions that socio-demographic characteristics about the nurses’, the second part includes Maslach Burnout Inventory. Data was anlayzed by using Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis.
Results: Of the study group 71.5% were female. Ages ranged from 17-54, with a mean of 33.1 ± 7.85 years. In this study nurses’ Maslach Burnout Inventory of emotional exhaustion avarege score was 20.36 ± 7.70 (med: 20.00), depersonalization average score was 8.62 ± 5.21 (med:8,00), personal accomplishment average score was 18.50 ± 5.58 (med: 19,00).
Conclusion: Our study suggests that the nurses' burnout level was effected by some variables such as satisfaction with job, poor economic situation perception, occupational broadcast monitoring, the total working period of 5 years and under and choosing the unit willingly. Increasing the salaries of nurses according to today’s economic conditions satisfactorily, promotion of scientific activities, making effective assessment of employee satisfaction can be effective for decreasing the burnout levels.
